Quarry Hollow Street Party – 11th September

On Sunday 11th September the residents of Quarry Hollow will be hosting a Street Party from 2-4pm.

If you would like to come along please bring food to share and Books or DVDs for the swap table. There will be Live music, barn dancing, street games and activities for all. Tea, cold drinks and food will also be available.

The event is open to all residents of Quarry Hollow, Beaumont Road, Trinity Road, Spring Lane, Coopers Place and Hedges Close, with all Family and friends of those residents welcome.

Please note that Quarry Hollow will be closed to traffic during the event and should the weather be bad the activities will be moved to the Masons Arms function room.

Barn Dance – Tickets now on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the Friends of Quarry Barn Dance on Saturday 15th October, 7.30pm at Gladstone Road Community Centre. Ticket prices are £10 for Adults and £5 for under 16s. Music will be provided by Ted Morse and his band and a light supper will be included with a cash bar available.

For tickets please call either Ox 762416 or 763624, or speak to any Committee member. Numbers are restricted and tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will not be available on the door.

New Oxford Half Marathon to pass through Quarry

The route for the Oxford Half Marathon has been released and it will pass through several roads in Headington Quarry. The race, taking place on Sunday 25th September, is a new running event and will raise money for local charity Helen and Douglas House.

The race will start at the Kassam Stadium and follow a one-lap fast and flat route along the eastern bypass before passing through Beaumont Road, Quarry Hollow and Quarry Road on it’s 13.1 mile tour of the City. Full details of the route can be found here.

There are still places available so if you would like to enter please visit the race website at www.oxfordhalfmarathon.co.uk, or alternatively do come and cheer on the runners on the day.

Coffee mornings

The weekly Friends of Quarry coffee mornings are resuming starting on Friday 2nd September at 10.30 at the newly refurbished Six Bells Pub. We hope to see you there!

SOS (Save our Shed) at The Six Bells

On 2nd July The Six Bells is holding a fundraising event for a new Aunt Sally Shed. The programme for the day is as follows:

12pm – BBQ with Magician and Bouncy castle for the children

2pm – Singles Aunt Sally tournament between the Six Bells, the Masons Arms and the Chequers

8pm – Race Night

Holy Trinity Church Summer Fete

Holy Trinity Church Summer Fete will be held this year on Saturday 16th July from 2pm. to 4pm. at the coach house, with various stalls, Headington Quarry Morris dancers,  childrens games, refreshments and more.

Guided tour of Headington Quarry 9th July – BOOKING OPEN

Barry Carter, who has lived in the Quarry for many years, will be leading a group through Quarry talking about Continuity and Change on July 9th. The walk will start at Quarry School Place at 2.30pm and will finish with tea at The White House. A place on the walk can be booked by using the form below or by phoning Jenifer Carpenter on 762416. The number of places is limited so early booking is advisable.
