Since we became aware of the proposal by Hutchison to locate a 5G mast on a key entrance to the Quarry, Friends of Quarry have worked with our Councillors and the City Planners to respond to the preliminary public consultation about the siting of this mast and to examine the terms under which it was being considered. As a consequence of all our representations, the agent dealing with the proposal designated the application as red based on the traffic light designation scheme for the of such masts on an area. Hutchison were advised that the chosen site should not be used and an alternative site nearby be found.
However the phone company have not accepted this guidance and are pressing ahead with the original proposal. However they do have to ask for planning permission and, as we indicated before, you now have a chance to comment on the Council’s planning site. The application reference is 21/00782/T56 – comments must be made by 23 April 2021
Friends of Quarry will continue to press for an alternative site to be adopted and the more signatures on the Friends of Quarry petition and comments to the planning authorities the better.
