Update on Quarry High Street closure

The road closure of Quarry High Street will not now take place on the dates in February previously given. Keep an eye on the website for new closure dates.

It will probably not take place until the work in Trinity Road is completed and the road is open again.

Trinity Road Temporary Closure

Trinity Road will be closed from 27th. January for 4 weeks to enable Thames Water to carry out work to improve sewage removal.

Quarry High Street will be closed from 11th – 14th February to allow services to be connected to the 26-28 Quarry High Street site.

This paper has been prepared by the Transport Group of Friends of Quarry in response to residents’ concerns about traffic and parking in the area. The main points in the paper were represented at the AGM of Friends of Quarry on 13th November 2013 and received overwhelming endorsement by those present. The Friends of Quarry will seek to take these recommendations forward.

Guided walk of Quarry – 13th July

Barry Carter, who has lived in the Quarry for many years, will be leading a group through Quarry talking about Continuity and Change on July 13th.  The walk will start at Quarry School Place at 2pm and will finish with tea at The White House. A place on the walk can be booked by phoning Jenifer Carpenter on 762416. The number of places is limited so early booking is advisable.

Quarry special features meeting – 16th May

There will be a meeting to discuss Quarry’s special features on Thursday 16th May at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, Quarry Road. We will be joined at the meeting by Robert Lloyd-Sweet, Conservation Officer for Oxford City Council, who will talk about the special features, how they’re currently protected and what it means to live in a conservation area. This will be followed by an opportunity to discuss whether what else can be done to protect the area and whether residents would accept further restrictions on making changes to their properties. The meeting will be followed by a wine reception which we do hope you’ll be able to stay for.

Holy Trinity Church plans

You may be aware that the governing body of Holy Trinity is considering changes to the interior and exterior of the church. Their ideas are described in the  Public statement and Sketch of ideas.

The Friends of Quarry committee would like to collate the views of our members, and report this back to the church’s building sub-committee. We would be grateful if you would complete the questionnaire  and return it to friendsofquarry@googlemail.com Copies of the questionnaire have also been emailed or delivered to all members.

Please send responses by 18th November.

Organ Recital

Renowned organist Stephen Farr will perform an organ recital at Holy Trinity Church on November 22nd. The performance will start at 7pm and tickets will be available on the door for £10 (£5 concessions).

Holy Trinity Christmas Event – 17th + 18th November

Holy Trinity Christmas Event will take place on Saturday 17th November from 2.0-4.30 and Sunday 18th November from 11.30-12.30 at the Coach House. There will be various stalls, afternoon tea (Sat only) and children’s activities(also Sat only).
