1 Quarry High Street – Update on Enforcement Appeal

An appeal against the Planning Enforcement notice against the development at 1 Quarry High Street has now been lodged with the Planning Inspectorate. Comments from interested parties , which include local residents, must be received by 29th March. Details on how to respond are on the Planning Inspectorate website.

Friends of Quarry will respond to the appeal on behalf of residents, but we also encourage you to respond individually.

A copy of the enforcement notice is available on our website for your information.

1 Quarry High Street – Important Update

We have been informed by Oxford City Council that a Planning Enforcement Notice has been served on the developers of the Mews Block at 1 Quarry High Street requiring that it be demolished and the site cleared. The notice was served on 5th January and will come into effect on 9th February. The owner then has 6 months to complete demolition and a further month to remove the rubble.

The owner can appeal before the notice comes into effect, in which case residents will have an opportunity to have their say. We will keep you updated.

Friends of Quarry have campaigned hard for over 2 years, with the support of our local councillors, residents, the Oxford Civic Society and our MP to highlight and represent the extent of planning breaches at this development to the City Planning Authorities. We are pleased that they have recognised the severity of these and are now taking action.

Controlled Parking Zone Update

The Headington Quarry controlled parking zone came into force on 15 February 2021. Any permits applied for at that time will expire on 15 February 2022.

It is likely that the County Council will write to permit holders to remind them to renew their permits, but as there have been postal delays recently, we wanted to make you aware in case no renewal letters are sent or they are delayed.

Renewal is possible up to 1 month before the existing permit expires on the County Council website.

A number of proposed changes to the controlled parking zone were approved at a County Council meeting on 16 December. More information is on the County Council website.
