New Planning Application for a Mobile Mast in the Quarry
In 2021, an application for a mobile mast on Quarry Road was turned down after objections by residents and our councillors.
A new application for a 15m mast at a location slightly further along Quarry Road has now been submitted as 22/02405/T56. You can view and make comments before 23 November 2022 on the Oxford City Council planning portal.
Although this is a new application for a slightly different site, we feel that the impact is the same and will be responding to the planning application in the same way as we did for the last one.
We have prepared a flyer to show the impact of the mast and to provide you with contact details for your local Councillors, so that you can contact them to give your views on this planning application

Oxford Local Plan 2040 Consultation Open
Oxford City Council is embarking on the development of a new Local Plan. The Local Plan 2040 will set out the planning strategy for meeting the needs of the city and once adopted, will be used in determining planning applications for a wide range of development. It will set out where new homes, businesses and community facilities will be built to make Oxford a better place to live, work and visit. It will also look at how we can protect the things that make Oxford special such as open spaces, ecological habitat and areas of heritage. It will guide how development happens, helping to support the transition towards a zero-carbon city, ensuring high quality design, being conscious of health and wellbeing, and addressing inequalities.
The consultation can be accessed on the City Council website.

Update: Crown and Thistle Planning Application
A planning application to demolish the Crown and Thistle and build up to 9 flats was submitted last January. This was later changed to Planning in Principle to develop the site for up to 9 flats (questions of design, demolition etc to be considered in later applications).
The application was called in by local councillors and considered at the Planning Meeting of 20th Sept. Planning officers agreed that the owners had not made sufficient effort to maintain the pub as a going concern but recommended the application be approved.
Councillors considered that approving the application would set an unacceptable precedent and rejected the application. If approved it would signal to developers that a building could be left to decay in the hope that demolition and development would then be approved.
